I met a Veteran that had the heartiest laugh I have ever heard. He would give Santa a run for his money. When you are around him, you can be nothing but happy. When you hear his stories, you can be nothing but inspired.

He lifts people up. I watched him as he was introduced to a lady. The first words after hello were “I hope you don’t mind me saying, but you have beautiful hair.” She glowed at his comment.

He is competitive. It may seem it is with others…but if you listen, you will realize it is with himself. He has more energy than a dozen 20 year old guys combined. He is always trying to push a little harder, become a little faster, and go a little further…simply because he can. And if he is told he can’t, he will try even harder.

He is unapologetically, yet humbly proud of his accomplishments.

And he should be.

See, if you are ever honored to be trusted by him and he tells you his stories, you would understand why he laughs so loud and lives so large.

You would understand the traumas he survived, the physical injuries — hit by a car, infections from poor medical procedures, crushed hand, permanent back damage that has left him wheelchair bound; the psychological injuries from childhood traumas and an…
